Our proposal aims to develop the idea of global public reason in three areas in which we have already worked in the framework of the projects of AEI, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the ERC: 1) the general theory of law; 2) the theory of legitimacy and human rights; and 3) the intergenerational justice and demographic change. The expected impact is to develop a model of public reason that serves to assess the legitimacy of political decisions and institutions at the international and global level -e.g. the European Court of Human Rights-, at the same time that it serves as a useful criteria for the design of political institutions and decisions at the international and global level. In these circumstances, we will strengthen our group’s alliances both nationally and internationally, organize academic events -e.g. seminars, workshops and congresses-, research stays, conduct and supervise doctoral theses, publish books and scientific articles in the most important international journals, participate in the public forum through debates in the networks and digital media. Within this framework, our research has the potential -depending on the case, to a greater or lesser extent- to contribute to the fulfillment of the following Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations: end poverty (1); zero hunger (2); good health and well-beign (3); quality education (4); gender equality (5); decent work and economic growh (8); reduced inequalities (10); sustainable cities and communities (11); climate action (13); peace, justice and strong institutions (16). The aforementioned impact of our project is part of an extensive trajectory that continues to be active today and with a view to both the medium and long term.
