Research description: The main purpose of the FINSERVICES project is to contribute to the analysis of the financing system for public services as an indispensable tool for effective access to essential services and the right to equal opportunities. Both rights, along with the right of access to health services, are recognized as social rights in the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) of November 17, 2017. Because of the economic crisis, in recent years the European agenda has been presided over by a strict application of budgetary discipline, accompanied by significant cuts in public spending made by the national authorities. The challenge in the coming years is to build a more inclusive and fair European Union, in which the right of access to essential services of all citizens is guaranteed. This is a global objective (at national, European and international level), in which both the public administrations sector and the private sector are involved.
Impact: The benefits of this project extend to all citizens and are of interest to the public sector as well as to the private sector. In the development of this project, several transfer actions of results have been carried out through collaboration with public administrations and private companies in the field of essential services (health, water, etc.), which will be expanded in the next years. Although the project will formally finis by 2020, the efforts will go on with the aim of guaranteeing access to the essential services by 2030.
