The EU-funded xR4DRAMA project aims to create a solution that will improve the situational awareness of those user groups who are responsible for handling disasters, man-made crises, or public events. The groups range from first responders, local authorities, and security forces to media companies and event planners. xR4DRAMA’s methodology is based on X Reality (XR) technologies, and the tool can be used remotely and on-site for an augmented and shared perception of a given situation. The aim of this project is to help first responders and media companies to have all the necessary information before planning any actions.
The xR4DRAMA solution will be multi-domain, including everything from planning for external audiovisual production to disaster management. It will be able to be used remotely and in situ to obtain an increased and shared perception of a given context, in order to allow more efficient planning and resource savings, as well as a frictionless implementation of the planned action. The project consortium is made up of seven partners from academia, research centers, civil protection, and the audiovisual industry.
As part of the project, the technologies developed at different stages of maturity during the project life will be shown in two market sectors: disaster management support in a flooding context for first aid, and municipal and civil protection authorities and support for outdoor audiovisual media production for broadcasters and other media companies.
The project expected results are aligned to SDG 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable, by contributing to reduce the number of deaths and the number of people affected by disasters.
