The Government of Catalonia, in the Government Plan for the eleventh legislature, assumed the commitment to develop a national plan for Catalonia that would ensure the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, approved by the United Nations in September 2015.
The elaboration of this National Plan acquires a very important significance because, through it, Catalonia is deciding and managing the present and future of its population and guiding the transition to a sustainable country. On the other hand, the elaboration of this National Plan reinforces the compromise of Catalonia with the international community and contributes to the will of the Government and the actors that make up the Catalan civil society to share substantive contributions that help achieve the 2030 Agenda on a global scale.
In this context, the Advisory Council for Sustainable Development of Catalonia has prepared the report “The 2030 Agenda: transform Catalonia, improve the World” (Report 3/2016), which identifies the main challenges that need to be addressed to apply this global agenda in Catalonia. It has been coordinated by an Interdepartmental Commission composed of staff from the secretariats of all departments of the Catalan Government, and it belongs to the Department of Institutional Affairs and External Relations and Transparency.
